A plastic kit of the German Heinkel He 46 C reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale. A two-seat strut-braced high-wing machine with fixed landing gear.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Heinkel He 46 was a German two-seat aircraft for close reconnaissance and cooperation with ground units, which came about in the first half of the 1930s. You recognize it by the wing carried above the fuselage on struts, the open crew seats in tandem and the fixed landing gear with its large wheels. The C version, which the kit captures, was the most widespread and had a radial engine. By the time the war began the aircraft already belonged among the superseded types and was moving to training and auxiliary duties.
The angular fuselage, the struts and the open cockpits make the He 46 a rewarding subject for the modeler who enjoys shapes other than smooth fighters. In 1:72 scale the model takes up little room and is still big enough for the cockpit and the engine to be worked up. In a display case it also goes well beside later machines, because next to them it brings out how quickly aviation technology changed in the 1930s.
Prepare the wing struts in advance and glue them only once the fuselage has set, or the assembly will shift. Build a simple stand or use modeling putty so that the wing holds its height and angle until the glue hardens. The open cockpits have to be fitted out before the fuselage is closed, because a hand will no longer reach into a finished model. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; wash and degrease the parts before painting.
Paints, glue, filler and a stand are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
