1:72 IJN Ka-14 Experimental single seat fighter (Kyu-Shi) is an injection-molded plastic kit of the prototype of a Japanese carrier fighter from Fine Molds.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fine Molds. The model captures the experimental single-seat Ka-14 fighter, the direct predecessor of the production carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The kit is supplied as plastic sprues with a decal sheet; glue and paints are needed to finish it.
The Ka-14 was the prototype from which the successful Mitsubishi A5M (Type 96) carrier fighter developed. It was an all-metal low-wing monoplane with a characteristic, slightly cranked elliptical gull wing and a fixed undercarriage. After the first test flights the engine cowling and the shape of the fuselage were reworked. The machine represented an advanced aerodynamic solution for its day and foreshadowed the rise of the capable Japanese carrier fighters of the second half of the 1930s.
Separate the parts from the gates with a sharp knife and clean the surfaces up with a file. Use thin modeling cement for plastic. Apply a base coat of primer before painting; the silvery surface of the all-metal airframe comes into its own with metallic shades. It is a good idea to paint the smaller parts and the cockpit before assembly. An airbrush gives the most even result on polished metal.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
