Photo-etched belts for the Ilyushin Il-2 1:72 from AML: the pilot seat belts for models of all three basic versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched seat belts in 1:72 scale for models of the Soviet ground-attack aircraft Ilyushin Il-2 in the Il-2, Il-2M and Il-2M3 forms. The belts are the most rewarding small thing a cabin can be improved with: in a plastic kit they are usually missing altogether or merely suggested on the seat, whereas photo-etched belts can be thrown over the edge and look as though the pilot had just unfastened them.
The Il-2 was a Soviet single-engine ground-attack aircraft and at the same time the most numerously built combat aircraft in history. Its peculiarity was the armored bathtub, into which the engine, the cabin and the tanks were built, so that the armor was not added but formed the load-bearing part of the airframe. The forms differed mainly in the crew: the early machines were single-seaters, and the later ones received a rear gunner.
Cut the photo-etched parts off the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with nippers. Shape the belts before fitting them: run a round tool over them so that they lose their flatness and take on a natural curve, and only then do they look like a fabric belt and not like a strip of tin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, with the smallest possible amount. Degrease the metal and apply a primer before painting. The buckles suit a metallic shade set apart from the color of the webbing.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
