Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Jagdpanther tank destroyer in the late G2 production version, in 1:72 scale from S-model. The brand specializes in the small scales and supplies its sets in the 1+1 form, that is two complete models in one box. The parts are injection-molded in polystyrene, and a decal sheet and instructions are included. The 1+1 format is practical for building a pair of vehicles into one scene or for a comparative build.
The Jagdpanther (Sd.Kfz. 173) was a German tank destroyer of the Second World War built on the chassis of the Panther medium tank. Into a casemate superstructure with a markedly sloped front plate was installed the long-barreled 8.8 cm PaK 43 anti-tank gun, which was among the most effective anti-tank weapons of its day. The combination of heavy firepower, the good mobility of the Panther chassis and a low silhouette made it a respected but demanding type to produce; total output remained low. The designation G2 is used for the later production series, which differed from the earlier machines above all in changes to the engine compartment, the exhaust system and the form of the gun mantlet.
In 1:72 scale it pays to work with liquid cement for plastic applied with a small brush — it runs into the joints by capillary action and does not clog the fine surface detail. Finish and spray the running gear and the lower hull before you close the superstructure. Apply a thin primer before painting, spray the base shade with an airbrush and lighten the tones from the centers of the areas outward. Build up the patina with a dark wash in the pressings and rivets, and concentrate dust and mud effects from pigments on the running gear and the lower parts of the hull. The long barrel is sensitive to damage — fit it at the very end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
