The real subject

The E-100 was a German project for a heavy vehicle from the end of the Second World War. It belonged to the Entwicklung series, which was to replace the varied range of existing types with a few related designs sharing common parts, and it stood at its heaviest end. Work, however, got no further than the partly built chassis of a single machine. The Jagdpanzer designation refers to a tank destroyer, that is to the version with a gun in a fixed superstructure instead of a rotating turret; such a variant stayed on paper and never entered service. The model therefore shows the proposed form, not a machine that could have been seen in the field.

The model

This is a collector's piece in 1:72 scale, that is in the size in which a collection of ground vehicles can be extended without outgrowing the display case. Beside ordinary machines of the same scale it shows how much more massive it was meant to be, and that is the main reason projected vehicles are collected. The finish, the markings and the extent of the delivery are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.

Placement and care

Stand the model on a flat surface out of direct sunlight, which changes the shade of the paint and the lettering over time. Wipe the dust away with a soft brush; a cloth catches on protruding features and bends them easily. Solvents and cleaning products do not belong on the surface. When carrying it, take the model by the hull, never by the barrel. In a display case it pays to add a label with the designation and a note that it was a proposal.
