The F-15J is the Japanese form of the American fighter aircraft F-15, which the industry there built under license for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. It is a single-seat twin-engined machine with turbofan engines and a pair of vertical tail surfaces, for decades the main type intended for the defense of the airspace over the Japanese islands. The designation J-MSIP refers to a program of gradual modernization that some of the aircraft went through so that their equipment would keep up with newer machines.
The model is in 1:72 scale, that is the size in which a collection of combat aircraft can be kept together without taking up a whole cabinet. The name states explicitly that there is a pilot figure in the package, so a machine can be built with a crew in the cockpit rather than an empty fuselage. The number of parts, the choice of markings and the extent of the cockpit equipment are given by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Finish the cockpit before you join the halves of the fuselage; later you will not get into it. Paint the pilot figure separately and seat it only at the end, so that it does not get in your way during the work. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, because grease from the fingers shows through a coat. Japanese fighter aircraft as a rule wear a two-tone gray finish in which the dividing line shows a great deal, so it pays to unmask the transitions carefully and to tune the edges.
