A pair of vacuum-formed canopies in the open form for a model of the Ju 87 dive bomber in the B and R versions in 1:72 scale. Intended for the kit from Fujimi.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Junkers Ju 87 in the B version is an icon of the first years of the war, and the R form added to it what a dive bomber lacked most, namely range. The letter comes from the German word for range and in practice it meant tanks under the wings and a modified fuel system. Machines equipped in this way operated over the Mediterranean and over northern Norway, where the distances to the target were incomparable with conditions over France.
The package contains two pieces of vacuum-formed glazing in the variant with the sliding sections pushed back. The second piece is not a mistake but a spare: thin film is easily damaged while it is being cut out and a replacement at hand saves a long search.
The long canopy of this aircraft consists of several separate sections and in the open form they have to be separated from each other, which is the main reason builders stick with vacuum-formed glazing. Deal with the framing using strips of masking tape cut along a ruler or with thin strips of decal. Painting the frames with a brush almost always gives away a shaky hand, even with an experienced modeler.
Leave the inner side of the glazing completely free of traces of glue and of fingerprints, because once it is glued in you can no longer reach it and every mark will show. Anyone who dares to can also suggest the armored glass windscreen panel with a strip of thin transparent plastic inserted from the inside.
