A mask set in 1:72 scale for the model of the Japanese fighter Ki-106, shaped for a particular kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ki-106 was the all-wood version of the Japanese fighter Ki-84, which the Japanese aircraft industry turned to at the end of the Second World War because of a shortage of light metals. The wooden structure came out heavier than the original metal one and the machine remained at the test examples; it never reached series production. On a model the wooden origin shows mainly in a differently treated surface, which is painted in warmer shades than metal.
The set brings masks in 1:72 scale, cut to shapes matching a particular kit. With them there is no cutting out around a template and no building up of narrow strips of tape over curved transitions. Which kit the masks are cut for is stated in the manufacturer's instructions, so check that before buying.
Always apply the masks before spraying, onto a clean, degreased and completely dry surface. Press each part down and smooth its edges with the blunt tip of a toothpick so that paint does not creep underneath. Lay the paint on in several thin coats; a heavy application creates a step at the edge of the mask that is clearly visible once it is removed. Lift the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, not days later.
The masks are in the package. The model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
