Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.B King Tiger (Sd.Kfz.182) heavy tank in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the variant with the production Henschel turret and a surface covered with molded-on Zimmerit, that is the anti-magnetic paste against magnetic charges. The package is made up of light gray injection-molded plastic with full-length flexible tracks and illustrated instructions.
The King Tiger was the heaviest German tank committed in series during the Second World War. It combined heavily sloped armor with the long 88 mm KwK 43 L/71 gun, which could destroy Allied tanks at long range. The Henschel turret replaced the earlier so-called Porsche turret and had a simpler shape with a flat front wall. Zimmerit was applied to the surface of the armor so that magnetic charges could not be attached to it. Heavy tank battalions committed the vehicles on the Eastern and the Western Front alike.
Finish the running gear and the lower hull first, and only then close the hull up. The molded-on Zimmerit stands out if you bring it out after the base color with a dark wash and a drybrush. Spray the three-color camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats and weather the running gear with dust pigments for mud and dust effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
