Die-cut painting masks for the Kittyhawk Mk. Ia in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. An accessory for precise masking while painting, not a model of an aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of precisely die-cut painting masks for a model of the Kittyhawk Mk. Ia fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard of Obrnice near Most. The masks serve for quick, clean masking of the canopy glazing, the wheels and other areas while painting. It is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model.
Kittyhawk was the British and Allied designation for the later versions of the American Curtiss P-40 fighter. The Mk. Ia corresponds to one of the early deliveries to the British and Allied air forces. The machines made their name above all in the fighting in North Africa and in the Pacific theater, where they were recognized by the shark mouths typically painted on the nose.
The individual masks are transferred to the glazing with tweezers and follow the shape of the canopy frames. Once they are in place the area is sprayed with paint, and the masks are lifted off after it dries, giving a sharp edge without any hand-lining. Round masks for the wheels are usually included as well.
This is a set of masks, not a complete model. The kit and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
