A Luftwaffe RB 20/30 aerial camera in 1:72 from AML equips reconnaissance machines with a serial camera - ideal for an open bay or for a diorama.

This set from the Czech brand AML renders the German RB 20/30 aerial serial camera in the Short / Long form. The miniature in 1:72 scale serves as equipment for reconnaissance machines - the aircraft itself is not in the package, and the camera counts as an accessory for your kits.
The Reihenbildkamera, the Luftwaffe's serial camera, exposed a run of overlapping consecutive frames as the aircraft flew over, from which the photo interpretation officers assembled continuous mapping strips. It was installed in the fuselage bays of the reconnaissance versions of a number of German aircraft, and on instruments of this kind the numerical designation usually refers to the focal length of the lens and the format of the frame. German aerial reconnaissance could not have worked without cameras of this type - they were its quiet, barely visible foundation, and that is exactly why they catch a knowledgeable viewer's eye on a model at once.
The camera shows to best effect in an open fuselage bay or on a diorama during the preparation of a machine - lying on a trolley, being checked by a mechanic or just being lifted into the aircraft. A dark semi-matte shade sets the metal parts of the instrument apart, while light drybrushing brings out the edges and the engraving; do not forget the lens, which a drop of gloss varnish will stand in for.
