This is a fine resin accessory, not an aircraft kit. The set holds 3D-printed replacements for the 7.62 mm ShKAS wing machine guns, part of the armament of the Soviet Il-2M attack aircraft. Printing on a fine 3D printer captures the small detail of the weapon that injection-molded plastic cannot render faithfully.

The real subject

The Il-2 Shturmovik was among the most heavily produced aircraft of the Second World War. Besides cannon and rockets it carried rapid-firing 7.62 mm ShKAS machine guns in the wings.

Use and tips

• Separate the parts from the print supports carefully with a sharp knife; they are thin and brittle.
• Wash and degrease them before gluing.
• Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• Do any sanding with respiratory protection.

Who the set is for

• Modelers who want truer weapons than the plastic ones from the mold.
• More experienced builders used to working with resin.

The accessory is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
