The real subject

The Mack AC, nicknamed the Bulldog, was a rugged American truck introduced in 1916. It was driven by a chain drive, ran on solid rubber tires and stood out for its durability in rough terrain. During the First World War it was used on a large scale by American, British and French units for supply and transport. Its distinctive front end earned it a lasting nickname.

Building and painting tips

Use liquid cement for plastic and carefully clean up the seams on the cab, the frame and the wheels. Assemble and paint the chassis and the frame before you attach the body. A primer and an airbrush are a good choice; military vehicles of the period carried simple single-color finishes. Dry brushing will bring out the edges and the rivets, and a light wash with dust pigments will add realistic grime, especially on the wheels and the chassis.
