About product

Martin-Baker CG-A – Resin Ejection Seat, 1:72 (Kovozavody Prostejov)

A resin accessory from the Czech manufacturer Kovozavody Prostejov, intended for the model of the trainer aircraft Pilatus PC-9 in 1:72 scale. Please note that this is not an aircraft model or a kit — the package contains just the Martin-Baker CG-A ejection seat itself, which you use in the cockpit to replace the basic part from the box. The resin casting carries fine details that injection-molded plastic in this scale usually cannot manage: well-defined padding, straps and handles of the escape system.

About the Accessory's Subject

The Martin-Baker CG-A is a lightweight ejection seat used by the turboprop trainer and light combat aircraft Pilatus PC-9 in its tandem cockpit. The seat is the most conspicuous element in a model's open cockpit, so replacing it with a detailed casting shows immediately in the finished result.

Use and Working with Resin

  • First wash the part in warm water with dish soap — this removes residue of the mold release agent, or the paint will not hold.
  • Cut off the casting block with a saw or a cutting disc, do not snap it off — the resin is brittle.
  • Sand the surface smooth after cutting, and wear respiratory protection when sanding; resin dust must not be inhaled, so sand wet if possible.
  • Glue it with cyanoacrylate glue — ordinary plastic cement does not work on resin.
  • Apply a quality primer before painting, and spray the paint only over that; bring out the details with a wash and dry-brushing.
  • Before gluing the seat in, always dry-fit it in the cockpit tub first — minor adjustment is sometimes needed.

Who the accessory is for

For modelers building the Pilatus PC-9 in 1:72 scale who want a convincing ejection seat in the cockpit instead of a simplified plastic part. Working with resin takes a bit of experience and the right tools, but gluing the seat in place itself is manageable even for a slightly advanced modeler.

An accessory for a model — the model, paints and glue are not included in the package. Do not inhale resin dust; sand wet and wear respiratory protection.

FAQ

No. It is a stand-alone resin accessory — an ejection seat for the cockpit. The Pilatus PC-9 model in 1:72 scale must be purchased separately.

With cyanoacrylate glue. Plastic cement does not hold on resin. First wash the residue of the mold release agent off the part and cut off the casting block.

Sanding produces fine dust that must not be inhaled. Sand wet or wear a respirator, and work in a ventilated room.

Gluing the seat in place, yes. It just takes a sharp saw for the casting block, cyanoacrylate glue and a little patience when dry-fitting the part.
