A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the McDonnell F-4C Phantom in 1:72 scale. The thin elements add details that cannot be molded in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4C Phantom is the version of the two-seat Phantom II jet made for the US Air Force. The machine was large, heavy and packed with equipment, so on a model it has plenty of places where small detail is noticed at a glance: the instrument panels and side consoles of both cockpits, the seat belts, the covers and grilles on the fuselage and the landing gear bays.
The set is made up of photo-etched metal parts. Photo-etching works by etching thin metal sheet, so the elements can be far thinner than the corresponding plastic parts and carry finer detail. The list of parts and the drawings are in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are attached to the fret by thin tabs. Cut through them with a sharp blade on a hard surface rather than tearing or twisting them off, otherwise the element will deform. Make the bends over a straight edge, ideally in a bender or between two razor blades. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest possible amount, with the area degreased beforehand. It pays to treat the metal surface with primer before painting, otherwise the paint peels during handling.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
