A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Phantom II in the F-4C and F-4D versions in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for spraying the glazing and the frames. The exact extent of the package is stated on the box of the set.
The F-4 Phantom II is a twin-engine two-seat jet with the crew arranged one behind the other. The canopy is therefore divided into several separate parts - a windscreen and two hinged sections - with pronounced fixed frames between them. The C and D versions are US Air Force aircraft; the shape of the glazing differs in detail between the individual forms of the Phantom, which is why masking sets are made separately for individual groups of versions.
On a divided canopy it is crucial to keep the frame the same width on both sides. Pre-cut masks handle that for you, but even so offer every part up dry and compare it against the engraved lines. Stick them on in the order windscreen, front section, rear section, so that you keep control of how the edges follow on. If you spray the canopy separately away from the fuselage, fix it to a stick with adhesive putty. Lay the paint on thinly, otherwise a ridge forms under the edge of the mask. Pull the masks off at a shallow angle before the finish has fully cured.
It is not a kit. The package holds only the masking set; the model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
