A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Phantom II in the F-4J version in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for spraying the glazing. The contents of the package are stated on the box of the set.
The F-4J is the version of the Phantom II meant for service from the deck of an aircraft carrier. In design terms it is a twin-engine two-seat aircraft with the crew one behind the other and with the canopy divided into a windscreen and two hinged sections. The individual forms of the Phantom differ in detail, including small points around the glazing, which is why mask makers split their sets by groups of versions - this one is meant for the F-4J.
On a two-seat cockpit most mistakes arise on the fixed frame between the two parts of the canopy: the frame is short, but it is in view from the side and from above, so any lack of symmetry catches the eye at once. Stick the masks onto the frames first, then fill in the areas of glass. Offer each part up dry and compare it against the engraved detail, and only then press it home with a toothpick from the middle outward. Degrease the model before spraying. Lay the paint on in thin coats and take the masks off at a shallow angle while the finish is not yet fully cured - dry hard paint comes away with the mask more easily.
It is not a kit. The package holds only the masking set; the model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
