A resin air intake detail part for the Soviet MiG-15 jet fighter in 1:72 scale from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but a precisely cast accessory that replaces the coarser or incomplete nose intake from the base kit with a truer shape and a cleaner cavity.
The MiG-15 was one of the most important jet fighters of the early 1950s, famous for its service in the Korean War. It drew air for the engine through a circular opening in the nose, which split inside into two ducts running around the cockpit. It is precisely the front mouth of the intake that gives the aircraft its characteristic look, and because it tends to be shallow or thick-walled in a kit, a crisply cast resin part with a thin lip and an indicated duct lifts the impression of the nose considerably.
Resin parts call for more careful preparation: wash them in lukewarm soapy water to remove any release residue, separate them carefully from the casting block and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways when sanding. Check the fit with the nose before gluing, spray the inside of the intake a light metallic or gray and blend the lip in with the surrounding fuselage.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
