1:72 MiG-21 in Polish service exclusive edition COMBO SET

Checkerboards over the Baltic and over Masuria

The fighter regiments over the Baltic, at Malbork and in the south of the country flew the MiG-21 from the middle of the 1960s. The machines differed not only in version but also in the way the coats of paint, the fuselage numbers and the size of the national insignia changed on them over the years. The 1:72 scale allows such a collection to be kept together on one shelf without the display case bursting at the seams.

The make-up of the package

Inside lie five main sheets of schemes, two sheets of national insignia and two sheets of technical lettering for the interceptor and the combat versions of the type. A smaller scale means denser printing, so more subjects come together on one sheet than would fit into 1:48.

The printing and working with it

Small captions at this scale will reliably test the sharpness of the printing and the builder's hand alike. It pays to work with a sharp scalpel, tweezers with smooth jaws and a shallow dish of lukewarm water. Fine lettering settles more easily when the surface under it is moistened with clean water beforehand and only then the decal is moved into position.

What purpose it suits

The package is aimed at modelers who want to build the development series of the type in the service of one air force. The stock of insignia and lettering means that a collection can grow gradually and keep a uniform marking. It will also come into use when repairing an older display build where the original decals have yellowed or cracked and need to be replaced in the same style. Anyone building from the boxes of various manufacturers will appreciate that the marking on all the models finally agrees.
