A limited edition plastic model of the Soviet supersonic fighter MiG-21bis in 1:72 scale from Eduard. The Dual Combo designation means the package contains TWO complete models — so you build two MiG-21bis aircraft. The edition comes richly equipped: it includes pre-painted photo-etch (mainly for the cockpit, seat, and canopy), painting masks, and extensive decals with a range of color markings from operators around the world.
The MiG-21bis was the last and most powerful production version of one of the most widely used jet fighters in history (NATO codename Fishbed). It was a single-seat supersonic fighter with a delta wing and a single turbojet engine, capable of speeds around Mach 2. The bis version received a more powerful engine, greater fuel capacity, and upgraded avionics. The type served with dozens of air forces and became a symbol of Cold War aviation.
With two models in the box, you can build a pair of different aircraft — for example, different operators or camouflage schemes. The pre-painted photo-etch speeds up the cockpit build without laborious painting, and the painting masks make it easier to spray the glazing cleanly. We recommend thin liquid cement for plastic and an airbrush. A number of aircraft carried a bare-metal finish as well as a painted camouflage — highlight the panel lines with a light wash and use quality metallic paints for the bare-metal surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
