This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings protective covers against foreign objects (F.O.D., foreign object debris) for a model of the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21MF fighter in 1:72 scale. It combines resin parts with fine photo-etched elements. It is not a kit but an accessory that gives the model the look of an aircraft parked on the apron at readiness.
On real jet aircraft, F.O.D. covers were fitted on the ground to keep dirt, small objects or animals from getting into the intake and exhaust ducting of the engine between flights. The set contains a resin cover for the front intake with its cone and a part for covering the exhaust nozzle, completed by photo-etched details. The model thus gains an authentic on-the-ground look that suits airfield dioramas too.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and clean them up with respiratory protection. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Bend the photo-etched elements precisely over the edge of a ruler. The covers are usually painted in a bright warning color with lettering so that they are clearly visible on the ground.
This is an accessory (resin and photo-etch), not a kit. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
