A resin conversion set in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Aires. It is not a kit in its own right but a set of resin parts that let you build the training version of the Mistel S1 composite combination from a matching plastic model of the Junkers Ju 88. The set contains the parts needed to rework the lower part of the combination and the carrying structure.
The Mistel was a German composite combination of the Second World War in which a lower unmanned Junkers Ju 88 was joined to an upper fighter that flew and guided the whole assembly. In the combat version the lower part carried a large charge, while the S1 training form served for crew training and for practicing the joining and separating of the two machines. It was an unusual technical solution typical of the late phase of the war.
Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue. The conversion calls for cutting and reworking the plastic of the base kit, so it is best suited to more experienced modelers. Assemble the carrying structure between the two aircraft as the instructions direct and brace it carefully so that it holds the weight of the upper machine.
