An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese twin-engined heavy bomber Mitsubishi Ki-67 Type 4 Hiryu (Allied reporting name Peggy) in 1:72 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. This boxing carries the markings of machines of the 74th Flight Regiment. Check the actual package contents and the decal options against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Ki-67 Hiryu, meaning flying dragon, was a late Japanese heavy bomber that stood out for its day in handling, speed and defense alike. It was powered by a pair of Mitsubishi radial engines and, unlike the older Japanese bombers, it received crew armor and self-sealing tanks. Besides conventional bombing it could also carry a torpedo. It was used in the closing stages of the war by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force, among other things against Allied shipping.
On a twin-engined bomber, pay attention to the fit of the fuselage parts and the engine nacelles; glue the joints with liquid cement for plastic and sand them carefully. Glue the extensive cockpit and gun position glazing carefully, and it pays to use painting masks. After the gloss coat and the decals, pick out the panel lines with a wash and add the light wear appropriate to late-war service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
