Rob Taurus N1K2-J 1:72 is a vacuum-formed clear canopy for models of the Japanese Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden-Kai fighter. It is not a model but a thin-walled replacement cockpit canopy with high transparency.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains a vacuum-formed (vacuform) clear canopy in 1:72 scale as a replacement for the plastic part supplied in the Kawanishi N1K2-J kit. It is not a model of the aircraft but a standalone accessory for raising the realism. The thin walls and the perfectly clear material rid the cockpit of the thick-glass effect and improve the view of the internal fittings. The design of the part usually allows assembly with an open cockpit.
The Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden-Kai was one of the most capable Japanese fighters of the closing stages of the Second World War. It grew out of a floatplane design and became a formidable opponent for Allied aircraft. The glazed cockpit with its good view is a prominent feature on a model, which a clear canopy sets off properly.
Cut the canopy out with a small margin and sand the edge down precisely until it seats on the fuselage. Glue it with clear glue for canopies or with a minimum of cyanoacrylate. Mask the frames carefully before spraying; the thin material holds its shape but will take only gentle pressure, so handle it with care.
This is a modeling accessory, not a kit. Glue, paints and masks are not included in the package.
