Injection-molded plastic kit of the American twin-engine Lockheed P-38D Lightning fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer RS Models. The set is usually rounded out by small cast parts and clear glazing. The model is meant to be assembled and painted; the exact contents of the box depend on the particular release.
The P-38 Lightning was an unmistakable twin-boom fighter with a central pod for the pilot. The P-38D version was one of the early variants that still preceded the later ones that saw the widest combat use. The Lightning made its name as a high-altitude and long-range escort fighter.
Take care to align both booms and the central pod correctly so that the model stands straight. Wash the cast parts and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The metal look of the airframe is best captured with metallic shades applied with an airbrush; pick out the panel lines with a light wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
