1:72 P-40 E / Kittyhawk Mk.Ia is a photo-etched accessory set for a kit you have already bought, not an aircraft model. Thin metal parts raise the level of detail on the American fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched accessory set in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Brengun. It is prepared for the Legato plastic kit and assumes you already own it: the aircraft itself is not included in the package. The photo-etched parts replace those plastic components where the simplification shows most and add features that cannot get into an injection mold at all.
The Curtiss P-40E was an American fighter and fighter-bomber with a liquid-cooled V12 engine and gun armament housed in the wing. Under the British designation Kittyhawk, machines of the same version served with Commonwealth air forces, especially in North Africa. The type was known more for its sturdiness and its ability to carry bombs than for its performance at high altitude.
The most rewarding photo-etched parts on this type are the grilles, the louvers and the vanes of the cooling openings. For the effect to come out, empty space has to be visible behind them: if the kit offers a solid plastic wall in that place, it pays to drill and sand it out carefully, or to glue a surface painted black behind the grille to suggest depth. Degrease the metal before gluing, and after the paint you can bring the edges out lightly with a dry brush.
This is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
