An injection-molded plastic model of the American Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter aircraft in 1:72 scale from the South Korean brand Academy. The box combines parts for two late versions of the legendary Warhawk: it allows the modeler to build either the P-40M version or the later, lightened P-40N. The set holds clear cockpit parts and a decal sheet with several color schemes, so you can pick the particular appearance of the machine to your taste.
The Curtiss P-40 was among the most widespread American fighters of the first half of the Second World War. The P-40M version was powered by an Allison V-1710 engine and came out of the proven line; the N shortly followed it as the most-produced version of the whole family, one in which the designers worked to reduce weight and improve performance. Warhawks were made famous by units such as the Flying Tigers and served in theaters from North Africa through the Pacific to the Far East.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, and fill and sand the fuselage joints where needed. Lay down a primer before painting and apply the paints with an airbrush in thin coats. Decide in advance whether you are building the M or the N version, as they differ in details of the cockpit and the equipment. Fine shading of the panels and details picked out with a wash bring the typical American camouflage to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
