P-47D-25 1:72 — a set of self-adhesive Eduard painting masks in yellow kabuki paper for clean masking of the bubble canopy and the wheels of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A precisely cut set of self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a plastic model of the Republic P-47D-25 Thunderbolt fighter in 1:72 scale. The masks in fine Japanese kabuki paper hold well, follow curved surfaces and leave no adhesive when taken off. They cover the cockpit glazing and the clear parts so that after spraying only the frames remain sharply outlined. The set usually also contains wheel masks for painting the tire and the rim separately.
The P-47D-25 was the production version of the heavy American Thunderbolt fighter on which the sliding bubble canopy first appeared in place of the earlier razorback cockpit, which markedly improved the view to the rear. The rugged aircraft with its Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine and heavy armament proved itself as an escort fighter and as a feared attacker of ground targets.
Lift the mask off the sheet with a sharp blade or tweezers, lay it on the part and press it down all round. Lay the paint on in thin layers so that it does not creep under the edge. Take the masks off while the finish is fresh. The bubble canopy has fewer frames, which makes lining the mask up cleanly around its outline all the more important.
This is an accessory, not a model. The kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
