1:72 P-47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop LööK brings a pre-colored instrument panel and photo-etched steel seat belts for a model of the American fighter with the bubble canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
The LööK set from Eduard takes care of the two things that are hardest to fight in a small scale: the legibility of the dials and the credibility of the belts in the seat. The instrument panel comes in color and in relief layers, the belts are of photo-etched steel sheet and can be bent naturally over the seat. That does away with laborious brush painting of the individual dials.
The late version of the Thunderbolt received a cut-down rear fuselage and a one-piece canopy that finally gave the pilot a view to the rear. The eighteen-cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-2800 with a turbocharger in the lower fuselage made the machine an excellent high-altitude performer, while eight machine guns in the wing and the load it could carry under the wings also made it a feared weapon against trains, airfields and columns. It served on the Western Front until the end of the war.
Sand the original plastic panel thin, or remove it completely according to the instructions, so the new layer does not lift the fuselage joint line. The panel is held by a drop of cyanoacrylate glue; the belts hold best on thin PVA glue (white glue). Paint the cockpit beforehand and dry-fit to see whether the canopy seats properly, because at this scale every tenth of a millimeter counts.
