A set of resin radial engine fronts for the American Northrop P-61A Black Widow night fighter in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Quickboost. It is not an aircraft model but accurately cast detail parts that will replace the simplified engines from the base kit with a more faithful rendering of the cylinders and the plumbing.
The P-61 Black Widow was the first American aircraft designed from the outset as a radar-equipped night fighter. Its twin-boom layout with a central nacelle was powered by a pair of massive eighteen-cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engines. The front of the radial is clearly visible behind the cowling intake, and because it tends to be only suggested in a kit, sharply cast resin parts noticeably lift the impression the nacelles make.
Resin parts call for more careful preparation: wash them to remove the mold release agent in lukewarm water with detergent, separate them carefully from the casting block and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue; protect your airways while sanding. Paint the engines in a dark metal, bring the cylinders out with a dry brush, set the plumbing and the cabling apart in color and unify the whole with a gentle flowing wash.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
