This item is an accessory, not a kit of a vehicle. The resin casting depicts an ammunition crate matching the armament of the Panther medium tank and serves to fit out a model in 1:72 scale or to fill a diorama scene. Accessories of this kind are placed on the hull, on the fenders, on an accompanying base or loose in the terrain beside the vehicle. Resin allows the sharp edges of the planks, the ironwork and the handles, which in an injection mold would be lost in such a small scale. The number of pieces in the package is stated on the box.
The Panther was a German medium tank of the Second World War period, armed with a long-barreled 7.5 cm gun. Ammunition was brought up to the vehicles in wooden and sheet metal transport crates, which were often seen with the vehicles stacked on the hull, on the fenders or on the ground during resupply. For a modeler these small things are a way of giving a model scale and setting it into its surroundings.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap so that the residue of the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting block off with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw; in 1:72 scale work over a tray with a raised rim. Glue with superglue applied with a pin. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting. Wood is imitated well with a lighter base over which a darker glaze is drawn along the grain; bring out the ironwork with a dark wash and a fine rub on the edges. Dust pigments come in handy at the end, so that the accessory fits the color of the surrounding terrain.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
