Panzer in the Desert 2 is a set of decals 1:72 for the PzKpfw I Ausf B, the command Befehls-Pz I B and the Pz-Jäger I B tank destroyer in North Africa.

The second part of the desert series from Star Decals is devoted, in 1:72 scale, to three machines built on one chassis: the PzKpfw I Ausf B light tank, the Befehls-Pz I B command vehicle and the Pz-Jäger I B tank destroyer in North Africa. The set rounds out a finished model and is interesting in that it serves three differently looking vehicles.
The PzKpfw I Ausf B was a light tank with two machine guns, a lengthened chassis and five road wheels on each side. On the same basis there arose a small command vehicle, which in place of a rotating turret was given a fixed superstructure with a map table, and also a tank destroyer with a 47mm anti-tank gun in an open shield. In North Africa these vehicles served even when they already counted as outdated elsewhere. Machines separated from each other mainly by the shape of the superstructure thus ran side by side in the desert.
Desert finishes tend to be light and matte, and on them every unsuccessful edge of film gives itself away at once. It pays, therefore, to apply gloss varnish under a design only at the place where it will lie, and so to spare the overall look of the surface. Then fine-tune the faded shades only once it is fixed, so that the markings even out optically with the rest of the area.
