This photoetched set is an accessory, not the model itself. It contains photoetched parts intended to complete the exterior details of the plastic kit of the amphibious PBY-5A Catalina flying boat in 1:72 scale. Photoetch refines surface elements that are hard to mold in plastic in a small scale.
The Consolidated PBY Catalina was one of the most widespread amphibious flying boats of the Second World War. It served for maritime patrol duty, search and rescue and for bomb and depth charge attacks against submarines. The PBY-5A version was the amphibian, fitted with retractable landing gear, which allowed it to take off from land as well.
Separate the fine parts on a hard surface, bend them accurately and glue with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer. With large-area parts take care that they seat well on the rounded surface of the fuselage.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
