An accessory for building dioramas of laser-cut wood in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene. It is not a vehicle model but a scenery element: once assembled and painted it becomes a picket fence with vertical slats spaced with gaps. The material is thin wood in a natural shade that keeps its own grain even after toning — in the small 1:72 scale that shows precisely on the fine, delicate parts.
The lighter version has narrower and finer pickets, so the fence reads lightly and unobtrusively. It suits front gardens, the fencing of small plots and anywhere a robust structure would needlessly draw attention away from the main model. The heavier version of the same range looks solid and permanent instead. The finer pickets are also more fragile, so handle them more carefully when breaking them out and gluing them.
Release the parts from the sheet slowly and without levering, as thin pickets break easily. Remove the marks left by cutting with light sanding. Glue with PVA wood glue or with thin cyanoacrylate applied in a minimal amount. Paint by toning — a wood stain, a glaze or heavily thinned acrylic let the texture come through; an opaque coat would flood the fine detail. Differing degrees of fading on the individual pickets and a gray wash at the foot of the fence give a scene credibility. Apply the paint to the back as well, because you can see through the gaps. Let the finished fence dry on a flat surface so that it does not warp.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a laser-cut wooden part. The glue, the paints and any further material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
