This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures the legendary Soviet Polikarpov Po-2 biplane (formerly designated U-2) in the variant with winter ski landing gear instead of wheels. It is a reissue of an older, proven tool, completed with the ski parts and additional equipment. A decal sheet with several marking options is included, among them Soviet, Yugoslav and Finnish (captured) aircraft.
The Po-2 was designed at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s as a trainer and liaison aircraft and became one of the most widespread aircraft of its day. Thanks to its undemanding structure, its slow and stable handling and its ability to operate from improvised strips, it served in many roles. During the Second World War it also became famous as a light night bomber harassing enemy positions. Ski landing gear allowed operations from snow-covered airfields.
This is an older tool, so expect to clean flash off the parts and to test the fit of the joints. The struts and bracing of a biplane call for patience and a thin plastic cement. Apply a primer before painting; an airbrush is ideal for the continuous areas. Rigging wires between the wings are not usually included and can be added from your own material.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
