A plastic kit of the Polish PZL P.11a fighter in 1:72 scale from the Polish maker IBG Models. The modern mold offers fine recessed engraving, a fabric texture on the control surfaces and a faithfully shaped cranked wing, the recognition feature of the whole PZL fighter family.
The PZL P.11 was an all-metal high-wing monoplane with the cranked gull wing designed by Zygmunt Pulawski, which gave the pilot an outstanding view forward and upward. It was powered by a license-built Bristol Mercury radial engine and armed with machine guns. The P.11a version was an earlier production variant that preceded the more widespread P.11c. At the start of the 1930s the PZL fighters were among the best in the world; by September 1939 they were growing obsolete against more modern German machines, yet Polish pilots scored a number of victories with them and the aircraft became a symbol of the defense of the Polish sky.
Separate small parts such as the landing gear struts and the exhausts with a sharp knife and glue them with a thin cement for plastic. The upper surfaces match Polish khaki and the lower ones a light gray-blue shade: check the exact shades in the instructions. A fine dark wash brings out the engraving and the fabric surface of the ailerons and the tail surfaces, and a final matte varnish unifies the finish. Apply the decals over a gloss surface and go over them with a decal softener.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
