1:72 R-27T - AA-10 Alamo B (2 pcs) contains two Soviet missiles in the shorter form with a heat-guided seeker head for aviation models in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The shortest member of the whole missile family, recognized by the heat seeker in the nose and the smaller motor. The set serves to complete the stores of a model fighter of Eastern design.
The heat variant was a practical insurance policy in its day. The pilot could launch it without lighting up the onboard radar and giving his position away, which came in useful during an approach under control from the ground. The range is shorter than on the extended versions, but in exchange the weapon works independently after launch and the machine can turn away at once. The seeker was sensitive enough for its time that it no longer required an attack strictly from behind into the exhaust. It is precisely for that reason that a pair of a heat and a radar missile became ordinary equipment.
In 1:72 it is fineness that decides. Sand the sharp edges of the surfaces so that they are not angular, and remove any burrs with a scalpel led from the root toward the tip. Handle the marking with narrow decals rather than painting, as a brush would smear a line at this size. Before you glue the set on for good, try it dry: the angle of the small surfaces should match on both pieces, or the stores look twisted.
Use presupposes a part-built model of a fighter. The means for gluing and spraying are supplied by the modeler.
