An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer UM. The real subject is a Soviet armored train of the Second World War in the anti-aircraft standard. It is a more extensive project than an ordinary vehicle model.
During the Second World War, armored trains belonged among the machines that accompanied and protected rail transport. The anti-aircraft standard was built on flatcars or armored cars with positions for anti-aircraft cannons and machine guns and was supplemented with crew and ammunition cars. The advantage was great firepower concentrated in one place and a quick move along the line, and the disadvantage was complete dependence on the track.
With rail machines it works well to build and paint the bogies, the axles and the underside of the cars separately from the car bodies, because once they are assembled you can no longer reach them. Railings, ladders and steps are the most delicate places, so fit them only at the end. Spray the base shade over a primer and pick out the rivet and sheet metal details with a thin wash. Grade the weathering: the underside of the cars and the running gear dusty and dirty, and the upper surfaces cleaner by contrast. If you plan to set the model on a layout, count on a base of a corresponding length and on a ballast bed, because that is what turns it into a scene rather than just a model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
