Set of photo-etched parts in 1:72 scale for the model of the Italian Reggiane Re.2002 Ariete combat aircraft. It refines the details that a plastic kit cannot capture at the right thickness.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Reggiane Re.2002 Ariete was an Italian single-engine combat aircraft from the period of the Second World War. It grew out of the earlier Reggiane line of fighters, received a radial engine and was adapted for attacks on ground targets. In modeling it is a rewarding subject thanks to the striking Italian camouflage patterns and national insignia.
The set is made up of photo-etched metal parts intended for a 1:72 model of the Re.2002. Photo-etch is produced by etching the outline out of thin metal sheet, so the parts have a thickness that cannot be reached in plastic. The individual elements are held on the carrier fret by thin tabs.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade braced against a hard surface, not with pliers, so that they do not bend. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades along the scored line. For gluing use super glue applied with a pin; on larger areas the slower gel version serves well, as it allows the part to be shifted.
Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer, otherwise the shade rubs off the smooth surface easily. Do the fit check dry, while the part can still be lifted off, and only then apply the glue.
The set belongs in the hands of a modeler who already has basic experience of photo-etch and wants to take the model beyond the level of the box contents. The model, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
