The RS-132 rockets in 1:72 scale are a set of four cast unguided rockets for equipping models of Soviet aircraft of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
Four cast unguided rockets of 132 mm caliber from the maker 77propeller. They serve to equip finished models of Soviet aircraft and hold no aircraft themselves. The rockets are small, but it is precisely they that turn a model of a ground-attack aircraft into a machine ready for a strike on ground targets.
The unguided rocket of 132 mm caliber came about in Soviet rocket institutes in the 1930s and first proved itself in combat over Khalkhin Gol in 1939. From its aircraft version the ground variant M-13 developed, which the salvo rocket launchers on the beds of trucks made famous. In the air it was carried above all by Ilyushin Il-2s, further by Petlyakov Pe-2s and by fighters adapted for ground-attack tasks. Against moving tanks it was inaccurate, but against columns, depots and log-and-earth positions it was devastating.
Rid the castings of grease in a lukewarm bath and let them dry out properly. Remove the gates by cutting, not by breaking them off, because the thin bodies of the rockets crack easily. Secure the joints of the rockets with the guide rails with cyanoacrylate applied drop by drop with a toothpick. In color the rockets tended to be dark gray-green with a more prominent ring at the head, which is a detail that nicely brings the underside of a wing to life in a small scale.
The rockets are supplied as castings without paint; you obtain paints and glue separately, unless stated otherwise.
