A plastic kit of the Soviet T-54 medium tank in the Mod. 1958 version, 1:72 scale. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The T-54 was the Soviet medium tank of the first post-war years and the basis of the whole family that the T-55 followed on from. It carried a 100 mm gun in a cast turret with rounded shapes, had a low silhouette and spread into the armories of dozens of armies around the world. The designation Mod. 1958 refers to one of the later production versions of this family.
The plastic kit in 1:72 scale is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The parts are held on sprues; the builder cuts them off, cleans them up, glues them together and paints them according to the instructions. The hull of the finished model measures just under nine centimeters, so the model takes up little room in a display case and also suits a small diorama.
In 1:72 scale the parts are small, so work with tweezers and a sharp blade and cut a little clear of the part. Line the road wheels and their spacing up on a flat surface before the glue sets, so that the model does not sit crooked. Clean up the gun barrel and the fuel tanks along their whole length. The green finish of Eastern-built vehicles only comes to life once the shadows are brought out, the horizontal surfaces lightened a little and the lower hull and running gear dusted.
The set suits collectors of armor in 1:72 scale as well as diorama builders who need a tank of post-war Soviet manufacture. Take the paint and marking list from the instructions. Paints, glue, filler and other materials are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
