Injection-molded plastic kit of the Czechoslovak postwar fighter Avia S-199 with the bubble (rounded) canopy in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. This variant differs from the angular Erla canopy precisely in the rounded glazing of the cockpit. Depending on the edition, photo-etched parts and masking templates are usually included.
The Avia S-199 was created in postwar Czechoslovakia by combining the airframe of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter with an available Junkers Jumo engine. The combination led to difficult handling on takeoff and landing, so the machine earned the nickname Mezek, meaning mule. Historically significant was the deployment of the S-199 with the newly created Israeli Air Force, where they became its first fighters. The variant with the bubble canopy gave the pilot a better view.
Finish the detailed cockpit before closing up the fuselage, and the bubble canopy can be built open. Protect the glazing with the masks supplied and glue the clear parts with canopy glue. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and cyanoacrylate glue on the fine photo-etched parts. Apply a primer before painting and lay the shades down with an airbrush, fix the decals on a gloss coat and secure them with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
