Plastic kit of the French two-seat Salmson 2A2 reconnaissance biplane in 1:72 scale, in a boxing focused on machines in French service.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Salmson 2A2 was a French two-seat biplane from the end of the First World War, intended for reconnaissance, observation and directing artillery fire. The A2 designation corresponds to the French classification of two-seat observation machines. Its recognition feature is the liquid-cooled radial engine, an unusual combination in its day, and two separate open cockpits with the observer at the rear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, with the parts on sprues. The boxing is focused on machines in French service. Before building, go through the instructions and plan the order of work: on a biplane a number of steps cannot be undone, because once the upper wing is on, the interior and the lower surfaces are no longer within easy reach.
Finish and paint the cockpit before you glue the fuselage halves together. Dry-fit the wing struts and glue them only once the relative position of the two wings is aligned; a building board or a simple jig that holds the angles works well. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. The covering of the real machine was fabric over a frame, so paint in thin coats that do not fill in the fine surface relief. Run the rigging between the wings only once the varnish is finished.
The kit will please anyone interested in First World War aviation and in French machines of that time. The package contains the kit parts and decals; paints, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
