A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the British Scammell Pioneer heavy tractor in the tank transporter version with a towed semitrailer. The kit is very finely done and many components are faithfully reproduced; the set contains photo-etched parts as well. Given the small scale and the delicacy of the parts it is a more demanding but rewarding build.
The Scammell Pioneer was a British heavy tractor in a 6x4 layout which in the Second World War served in several roles at once - as an artillery tractor, a recovery vehicle and precisely as a tank transporter. It was powered by a diesel engine and, thanks to its sturdy construction and a winch, it could recover damaged and heavy vehicles alike. The combination of tractor and low-loading semitrailer made it possible to carry tanks by road and spared their running gear.
At a small scale take care to cut and fit the fine parts cleanly; glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. First finish the chassis and the running gear of the tractor and the semitrailer, and only then the bodywork. A restrained patina suits the British dark base (khaki or SCC) - a fine wash in the recesses, a dry brush on the edges and dust pigments on the wheels and the chassis. Pick out the semitrailer and its loading surface with traces of the loads it carried.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
