Responsibility details are not available.
A set of figures of British heavy cavalry of the Napoleonic Wars period in 1:72 scale. The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted and are intended to complete dioramas, to form a standalone cabinet group or for tabletop games, where this scale is worked in routinely. It is not a kit of a vehicle or an aircraft: the contents are human and horse figures.
The Scots Greys, formally the Royal North British Dragoons, were a British dragoon regiment that in the Napoleonic Wars period counted among the heavy cavalry. Their characteristic features were gray horses, after which the regiment acquired its commonly used name, and tall bearskin caps. The heavy cavalry of the day filled the role of a shock arm deployed in close formation; its equipment was sturdier than that of light cavalry and the riders were armed with a straight-bladed sword. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject mainly because of the color of the harness and the contrast between the dark uniform and the light coats of the horses.
First rid the small castings of flash and the remains of casting gates; on miniatures of this size it pays to work under a magnifier and with a sharp scalpel rather than with nippers. Before painting, degrease the figures and apply a thin coat of primer, without which acrylic holds badly on a smooth surface. Work in order from large areas to details: a base tone, a dark wash into the folds and the harness, then drybrushing on the edges. Do not paint the gray horses pure white but in a broken gray tone with warmer transitions, otherwise the horses look flat. Finish the riders separately from the horses and only then join them; in the saddle you will otherwise not reach some details. Seal the finished figures with a matte coat, which protects the thin raised areas during handling.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
