Quickboost Spitfire Mk.IXc – early type engine covers 1:72 are a resin replacement for the engine covers (the cowling) in the early form. It is a detail accessory for Spitfire Mk.IXc models in 1:72 scale, not an airplane model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This detail set from the Czech maker Quickboost (the Aires workshop) replaces the engine covers (the upper cowling) of a Spitfire Mk.IXc model with resin parts matching the early form. The castings have finer panel and rivet relief than injection-molded plastic and capture the shape of a particular series more exactly. The set is a replacement part, not a standalone model.
The individual series of the Spitfire Mk.IX differed in the shape and the bulges of the upper cowling over the engine. The early type of covers lets you build the matching version more faithfully than universal plastic parts allow. The cowling is, after all, a prominent surface seen from above.
Wash the parts to remove mold release and cut them off the casting block with a fine saw. Bond with super glue, and fill and sand the transitions between resin and plastic if needed. Work with respiratory protection while sanding resin.
The set contains only the resin engine covers. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
