Spitfire Mk.Vb MesserSpit in 1:72 scale is a plastic kit from Brengun capturing a captured Spitfire rebuilt by the Germans with a Daimler-Benz engine.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit with photo-etched parts captures an unusual conversion - a captured British Spitfire Mk.Vb that the Germans fitted with an inverted V12 Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine. The package contains plastic parts, a photo-etched fret and decals for this experimental machine in German form.
During the Second World War Germany acquired several flyable captured Spitfires. One Mk.Vb was experimentally fitted with a German Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine, producing a hybrid aircraft nicknamed the MesserSpit. It served for trials and performance comparisons; it was a one-off experimental machine, not a production variant.
Join the plastic parts with liquid cement for plastic and the fine photo-etched parts (the exhaust fairings, for instance) with super glue. Apply a primer before spraying. The German finish and the national insignia come out well once a gloss coat is applied under the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
