Replacement exhaust nozzle parts for a model of the Soviet Su-27 heavy fighter in 1:72 scale. They replace the nozzles from the kit. The nozzles on this aircraft are large and deep, so thin walls and cleanly stepped plates on a replacement part tell on the final impression more than they do on smaller accessories.
The Su-27 is a twin-engine fighter with a long fuselage, a pronounced blending of the wing into the fuselage and two engine nacelles set far apart. The nozzles therefore stand out separately from the rear end and are visible from the side as well. The NATO reporting name Flanker belongs to the whole family of these machines, and the letter B is used within it for the single-seat production version.
First try the parts dry on the rear end of the model and only then glue them, so that both nozzles stand out equally far and are turned to the same degree. Cut off excess material with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down, so that the part meets the outline of the engine nacelle without a step. The parts are not polystyrene, cement for polystyrene has no effect on them, use super glue. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. Deal with the inside of the nozzles and the shade of weathered metal on the plates before you seat the parts on the model.
