An acrylic modeling paint from AK Interactive's Real Colors line, a dark gray shade under designation RAL 7021, in a 17 ml bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
The shade carries the German name Dunkelgrau and the English name Dark Grey, that is, dark gray, and is listed under number RAL 7021. It is a deep gray close to anthracite, with neither a blue nor a brown cast. The swatch number defines the tone unambiguously, so you can tie the paint to a color scheme built on RAL numbers and repeat the same tone on another model without mixing it by eye all over again.
A large continuous area painted a very dark shade looks even darker on a model than the real thing, because the model lacks the distance that actually lightens color in real life. The tried-and-tested approach is therefore to lighten the shade slightly on flat areas and save full saturation for recesses, seams and shadows. At the same time, dark paint swallows fine surface detail, so edges and rivets need to be pulled back out with subsequent highlighting.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, since the pigment settles to the bottom. Apply thin coats to a clean, degreased surface, ideally over a primer that evens out the absorbency of plastic, filler and parts made from other materials. Dark shades usually cover quickly, so it does not pay to lay them down all at once. The thinning ratio, spray pressure and tool cleaning follow the manufacturer's instructions on the package.
One 17 ml bottle of paint is supplied. The base color, thinner, final varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
