A resin accessory in 1:72 scale meant for changing the landing gear wheels on a model of the Su-33 carrier fighter. It is not a kit; the set holds wheels on their own that replace the plastic parts from a model already bought.
Carrier machines have strengthened landing gear compared with land-based versions, because they touch down on the deck harder. The wheels are then one of the first places where a model reveals how carefully it was built. Plastic wheels from a kit tend to be split in half, so a seam runs across the tire that has to be sanded away, and the rendering of the hub often disappears with it. A resin casting is of one piece, the hub is sharper and the sidewall of the tire more readable.
Wash the castings in warm water with detergent, so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. On wheels the casting block tends to be placed on the contact patch of the tire; cut it off with a saw and level the surface on sanding paper on glass, or the wheel will stand crooked on the model. Sand wet and with breathing protection. Glue with super glue and, before the glue sets, stand the model on a flat surface and check that it stands on all its wheels and square. Painting: the tire dark gray with a light hint of brown, the hub according to the particular machine, and at the end a light pigment dust applied from below upward. A pure black tire looks unnaturally hard in this scale.
The set is supplied unpainted and without a kit. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
